This is an update sent to our mailing list a little while ago. Hope you find it helpful.
As you may have heard, the Lacey MakerSpace is a project operating under the auspices of the Thurston Economic Development Council/Center for Business & Innovation (CB&I). We are a project under their 501(c)3 non-profit status. That means donations of money and equipment are tax deductible. The CB&I are providing us fiscal and human resource services,
Two other partners are the City of Lacey and Saint Martin’s University. Through their work, we have a facility available on the Saint Martin’s campus. It’s about 2500 square feet, ADA accessible, with classroom and shop facilities, including a dedicated welding room. We’ll be moving in as we acquire equipment.
We have a list of equipment we need to acquire. Those who buy equipment will receive recognition with a metal plaque on the equipment and more. If you would like to see the equipment list, let us know.
So, the organizational structure is set and we have a place to call home. Now it’s a matter of funding. We have several things in the works, but we need funds for equipment and start up.
If you know of a person, a business, or an organization who might be a major sponsor, please let us know. If you would like to volunteer when we open let us know.
We are in the process of updating and expanding our website. More information will be available there, as well.
More as we move ahead,
Graeme Sackrison, on behalf of the Lacey MakerSpace Team.
