Welcome to Lacey MakerSpace!
We offer a variety of classes to help users gain proficiency to our tools and learn new skills.
‘Public Tours’ are offered on Saturday mornings starting at 10am. Tours are free for folks that are curious about joining and want to learn more before signing up.
The ‘Orientation and Safety Trainings’ are for new members and people more serious about joining. Take the course online. (It's free!) In these classes, staff review basic safety and proper operation of some of our more frequently used machinery.
Orientation and Safety Training is required for access to the MakerSpace regardless of one’s previous experience and is open to members and non-members.
Here's a breakdown on the types of courses you'll see offered here at the MakerSpace
Basics
Intermediate
These classes focus on the software and design-based aspects of our more computer-based machinery. They generally run one hour long and focus on giving users a solid introduction to the various software program available and how to transfer that design to the computer operated equipment. General material selection is also covered.
Make
These classes are taught by local professionals and business owners. They are carefully planned out to cover safety protocols and basic hand-tool and equipment use where attendees will get hands-on experience making their own items to take home. Classes generally cover all materials for the class, with rare exceptions.
Skill or Workshop
These courses are offered on a sliding-scale when we’re working on a particular project at the MakerSpace where attendees can come and learn basic tool use while building practical items for use around the house and studio.
